RANDALL G MARSH, PH.D.

Randy Marsh

Dr. Marsh grew up in western Canada, receiving his B.Sc. in Zoology (Cell Biology and Physiology) from the University of Alberta in 1989. During his undergraduate years, Dr. Marsh discovered his passion for skin research. He continued his education at the University of Alberta and received his M.Sc. in Cell and Developmental Biology in 1992. After working as a senior technologist for several years, Dr. Marsh moved to Cincinnati to continue his research on skin. He received his Ph.D. in Cell and Molecular Biology from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 2000. His thesis research focused on proteins that control the movement of skin cells and that prevent them from spreading to other sites in the body during skin cancer. Dr. Marsh's work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and in book chapters.
Upon completion of his doctorate in late 2000, Dr. Marsh was hired by Procter & Gamble (P&G) in Cincinnati, and has been with P&G since that time. In 2004, he was promoted to Senior Scientist. His work has focused on skin anti-inflammatories, skin protectants, and skin cleansing agents for babies. Dr. Marsh has multiple patent applications on various skin technologies that he has developed. Some of these technologies will soon be marketed in Pampers baby wipes.
Dr. Marsh is very familiar with vitiligo, having had this disease for more than 15 years. Over the last few years the disease has been quite active, causing pigment loss in his hands, elbows, knees, groin, neck, and face. During his education at the University of Cincinnati, he was fortunate to make the acquaintance of Dr. Boissy and Dr. Nordlund, and has donated his skin to Dr. Boissy' s research team.
Outside of work, Dr. Marsh enjoys spending quiet time with his wife, reading, fishing, hiking, camping, shopping for unusual antiques, and fossil collecting. He is also committed to helping others with vitiligo in whatever capacity he can.
Dr. Marsh can be contacted at marsh.rg@pg.com.
